Researchers Study Path Oil from BP Oil Spill

FORT WALTON BEACH — Researchers from the University of Miami are working off the shore of Fort Walton Beach trying to learn more about the path of oil spills. They’re spending the next 3 weeks studying ocean currents in the area, to better understand how oil may be carried onshore. They are using GPS drifters, drones and dye sensors in their experiments. The group’s director says predicting the paths became more important after the 2010 BP oil spill.
