ArtSea

CARTHE recently participated in a unique seaside festival that brings art and marine conservation together in a beautiful day of music, art, education, and science!

ArtSea Festival

At our “Go With the Flow” tent organized, South Florida kids learned about ocean currents, pollution, and the impacts of pollution on marine animals. Guests colored drift cards for the April 2018 Bay Drift release, looked at mahi-mahi embryos under a microscope, and pretended to be a marine animal in an ocean of marine debris. It was a busy day in our interactive tent that included science from CARTHE, Vizcaya, RECOVER, and UM Coastal Modeling group.

We even had a special visitor who came to check out the CARTHE drifter!

Thanks to Big Blue & You and UM Ocean Kids for hosting us and to RECOVER Consortium, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine & Atmospheric Science Coastal Modeling group for joining us.

Great day at the ArtSea Festival on Virginia Key!

Can’t wait til next year!
