Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be analyzing hurricanes using satellite and GLAD (Grand Lagrangian Deployment) data sets. I will be using this data in order to study various hurricane forecast models with an emphasis on rain intensity. After comparing these models to each other and TRMM (Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) data, I hope to be able to determine which characteristics between air-sea fluxes are responsible for forecast model inaccuracy. Current forecast models have a wide range of predicted rainfall and tend to over predict rainfall intensity. My goal is to crack the case and get to the bottom of these inconsistencies so that I can help make hurricane forecast models more accurate for the future!
